Dear Book Lovers,

Wow!  July has flown by and I apologize for getting this newsletter out late.  When I'm not writing on my laptop out on the deck, soaking up the sun, I've been enjoying my new garden, riding bikes and going to the pool with my children.  Wish summer never had to end...

I'm also preparing to attend the Romance Writers of America conference in Dallas, Texas.  If you live in or around the area, please come meet me at the “Readers for Life” Literacy Booksigning (open to public) July 28th 2004, 5:30pm-8:00pm at the Adam’s Mark Dallas Hotel 400 North Olive Street, Dallas TX.  Over 400 hundred romance & women’s fiction authors will be autographing novels, including Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Mary Jo Putney!   Look for me either at the table for Jewel Stone or Dominique Sinclair.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT:   I love sharing great books with my newsletter readers-- I know how rewarding it is to find a new author to cherish beside old favorites!  To help you get to know some of the authors featured in my newsletter, I'll be conducting a short interview with a new author every month!  Let me know how you like this new addition to the newsletter!

Judy Leigh Peters, romance author. An interview with  JUDY LEIGH PETERS author of A FATHER'S HOPE

Jewel:  Tell us about your novel A Father’s Hope.

Judy Leigh Peters:  He was looking to rebuild his life...what he found was a miracle...

A Father's Hope by Judy Leigh Peters, a historical romance novel. When Gabe Stefonelli returns from World War II an amputee, his future seems bleak. Then he learns he has a baby, the result of a brief fling with Lynne Boucher. Now he has a reason to re-build his life. He wants to marry Lynne, even though he knows he’s no longer a man she can love. But the war has changed Lynne, too, so much so Gabe wonders if she’s the same woman.

Angel Boucher knows the sadness of growing up without a mother’s love. Now, nothing must jeopardize her custody of her baby niece. But in keeping her promise to impersonate her seriously ill twin sister, Angel doesn’t count on marrying her niece’s father…or falling in love.  A Father's Hope is available Now from Wings ePress!

Jewel: What inspired you to write A Father’s Hope?

Judy Leigh Peters:  My mother, Jeanne D Pabis, gave me the idea an inspiration for A Father’s Hope. We sat at her dinning room table and she began talking about World War II and those trying times. She told me about her friends and that they shared an apartment. Then she told me about meeting my father at a local pub. I told her that would make a beautiful love story. She turned to me and said, write it! So I did. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. She died before it was published.

But I know she knows about it.

Jewel: What are you working on right now?

Judy Leigh Peters:  The third book in the sequel to A Father’s Hope. This book deals with blindness and the main characters are Gabe’s younger brother, Antonio and Joshua’s sister, Kate who you will meet in Joshua’s Faith that comes out in June 2006. When Kate meets Antonio she falls instantly in love with him. Later she agrees to come for a visit to the Stefonelli Vineyard in California. Only a cruel twist of fate leaves her blind. Not wanting to in flick her blindness on Antonio she breaks all ties with him. Of course love is a very strong bond and can conquer any obstacle.

Jewel:  Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know.

Judy Leigh Peters:  I have an identical twin sister, we had lots of fun fooling the guys. One time my husband was on leave for a few days. My sister had come over to my house to watch my son for us. I had gone up stairs and she was washing the dishes. My husband grabbed her thinking it was me and planted a big kiss on her lips. As soon as he did it, he realized it wasn’t me. Poor Guy! It took him a long time to live that one down. From then on he made sure it was me he was kissing.

Jewel: Tell us about your hobbies or other interests.

Judy Leigh Peters:  I would have to say that reading is my favorite past time, traveling and visiting the casino’s with my hubby. Besides writing my grandchildren are my greatest joy. I have nine and they keep me young and very active.

Jewel: What is your favorite book of all time?

Judy Leigh Peters:  I would have to say Danger In The Shadows by Dee Henderson. It really got me hooked on her style of writing Inspirational Romances. This was also the prequel to The O’Malley’s Series. If you haven’t read them you need too! I have many favorites with Wings too which are on my keeper shelves.

Thanks, Judy, for sharing a bit of your life with us.  Here's some more great authors and wonderful books you'll want to add to your Must Read Now pile:

HEART DUEL by ROBIN D. OWENS

Heart Duel, the story of Holm Holly and Lark Collinson. Holm’s a fighter; Lark’s a Healer, their Families are at war. Holm knows bone deep that nothing will prevent him from claiming Lark. Not the feud. Not his Family’s condemnation. Not his own flaws. And not Lark herself.

"Holm is an incredible hero. Although his very nature is that of a warrior, impatient and violent, he curbs all of this in order to slowly woo Lark. It’s a wonderful courtship, helped out by two cute Fam kittens (Fams are telepathic cats or dogs, bonded with one human.) Both Lark and Holm have issues they must work through before they can commit to each other. The HeartMate gift Lark gives to him is utterly priceless, and hysterical.  A Desert Island Keeper." Laurie Likes Books

"The ties of family are central in this book. Lark’s estrangement from the Hawthornes, Holm’s relationship with his own parents and brother, and the ties that Lark and Holm have built with their friends all form a central theme. The end resolution of some of these relationships were surprising and poignant." – Liz Zink, All About Books

"Robin D. Owens...provides a wonderful, gripping mix of passion, exotic futuristic settings and edgy suspense."  – Jayne Ann Krentz

Robin Owens will also be autographing her novels at the “Readers for Life” Literacy Booksigning!

CRAZY FOR KATE by Kelly McDonough

Chris is the man of every woman's dreams.  Not only is he a hot looking construction worker who looks good in ripped jeans and a white T-shirt, but he's got a big heart he would like to share with a family.  Because of a childhood illness that left him sterile, he can never have the family he hoped for.  This deeply troubles Chris.  It also reminds him of his ex-fiancé who walked out of his life when they discovered he couldn't give her the babies she so desperately claimed to need.  Her maternal instincts lead her right into the arms of another man.

But fate has it's way with Chris who winds up working at a church picnic with Kate McKaye, an old classmate.  She's more beautiful than he remembered, and she's divorced with two young daughters.  For the first time in years, Chris asks a woman on a date.

Chris falls deeply in love with this sexy, sweet woman.  His only fear is how she'll react when she finds out she can't have all the babies she tells him she wants.  Will she be like his ex-fiancé?  Or can she settle for her two daughters or the possibility of adoption?  Chris prays she loves him and wants him in their lives forever.

MOMENTARY LAPSE by Laurie Larsen

What if one quick decision, nestled among dozens of others made today, had the power to yield disastrous results?

For Lydia Pisani, life is not easy.  Raising any two small children alone in this day and age is challenging at best; add into the mix her children, and every day becomes a lesson in self-control.  Angela is seven years old going on twenty-five.  When she zaps one of her "Get real, Mom" looks, Lydia has to wonder if Angela should rightfully be the mother, and Lydia the child.  And then there's three-year-old Markie.  Talk about a one-child tornado.  He rips through a room, leaving an undeniable path of devastation.

Angela undergoes surgery and Lydia brings her home to recover, hoping for a rare day of mother/daughter bonding.  Her plans fizzle when Angela sleeps all day.  When it's time to pick Markie up from day care, Lydia is faced with a decision:  awaken the patient to drag her along, or leave her sleeping peacefully.  What turns out to be her momentary lapse in judgment changes the fabric of her life for a long time to come.  Now it's up to her and the policeman involved in her arrest, to put the pieces back together.

"Laurie Larsen's novel is a sweet romance between two compassionate, intelligent, deserving people.  From beginning to end, this one will make you feel good."  Romantic Times magazine, June, 2001

Celestial Passions: Brianna by JUDY MAYS

All Brianna did was what any other decent human being would do - rescue a pair of aliens her boss was about to dissect and get them back to their space ship. In the process, she was captured by an alien scientist and became a experiment herself - a sexual experiment.
Captain Alalakan don al’ Charadadon was not about to let Dr. Bakom don al’ Rodak conduct his ridiculous sexual experiments on an inhabitant from a newly discovered world, even if it meant he had to marry her. Marriages were easily dissolved on his planet, and this alien was very beautiful. Besides, he wanted her - in his bed, on the floor, against the wall, or anywhere else he could think of.
Brianna had to choose - marry the captain or try to find another way to escape Bakom. The choice was easy. Even though he was an alien, Char was the most desirable man she’d ever met.
So, Brianna finds herself hurtling through space married to a very sexy alien - with a very flexible tail - from a planet where hedonism is the norm, and there are three sexes, male, female, and hermaphrodite.

{{Rose Germano}} But, Bakom wants Brianna too and is willing to do anything to get her back.
