Dear Booklovers:
Summer seems to be a perfect blending of glorious days building upon each
other like ocean waves, creating sweet memories of delicious food and
wine, family and friend gatherings, evening sunsets, walks in the park--
then it all quite suddenly comes to a screeching halt with the
realization, it's back to school time. Being the mother to a 15 year
old daughter, I can assure you back to school time is not cheap and sore
feet are a given (especially after going to 3 malls in 3 days in 3
different cities!). But, I think they're ready to head off. It
won't be long until I'm dropping her to college!
 I spent a lovely weekend at Carloyn Beach at my grandfather's place.
What a lovely time, the weather was perfect during the day and crisp in
the evening, just the way I like it. My son dug goeyducks (boy was
ugly creatures those are!) and my daughter and her friend attracted boys
under the age of 18 from at least a 10 mile radius. Fun fun!
I admit to having started this newsletter the beginning of September and
in my newfound slacker state I've been in the past couple years, I'm just
finishing up with only a few days left of the month (amendedment, it's now
October!). One of these
days I'll hit my goal of this newsletter going out on the 15th!
So, alas, more news to share in the adventures of being the mother of a 15
year old. Homecoming. Yup, my princess is going to homecoming for
the first time. Another shopping trip, heading out totally prepared
to spend a few hundred bucks and tears of "nothing fits!" we made it home
within an hour with a knock out dress the mother in me wants to ban from
the United States. What happened to taffeta dresses with big bows and
pumps? Oh, right, that was the eighties, my homecoming era. So I
shall send her off Saturday night with a big kiss and tears in my eyes,
realizing my little girl is growing up.
It was my birthday this month and I had a birthday party for the first
adult time. A gathering of my favorite friends, good food and a
wonderful time. Definitely a memory to cherish.
